Asset Protection

Square Orb provides multi-layered asset protection tools designed to safeguard creative assets against casual downloading, unauthorized scraping, and content theft.

1. Right-Click Protection

When enabled, Square Orb actively blocks context menu interactions across your galleries and lightbox presentations.

  • Scope of Protection: Applies directly to gallery container items (.sorb-protected) and the full-screen lightbox overlay (.sorb-lightbox-protected).
  • Interaction Prevention: Disables native right-click context menus (Save Image As..., Copy Image Link) and prevents users from dragging images off the page.
  • Granular Control: Can be enabled globally on the Global tab (tab=sitewide) or toggled individually on each Square Orb Canvas block.
  • Security Note: While right-click protection effectively deters casual website visitors, it is a client-side deterrent. Determined users with browser inspection tools can still access network assets. For absolute asset security, pair right-click protection with non-destructive watermarking.

2. Non-Destructive PNG Watermarking Engine

Square Orb features a server-side watermarking engine built to protect your high-resolution images without degrading your original files.

  • Non-Destructive Stamping: When a watermark is applied, Square Orb stamps only the web-generated intermediate sizes (sorb-pro-highres, large, medium_large). Your original, untouched master file is preserved in your uploads directory.
  • Transparent PNG Support: Stamping preserves alpha channel transparency, ensuring clean visual stamps without opaque rectangular artifacts.
  • Proportional Scaling: Watermarks automatically scale to 15% of the target image’s width (maintaining aspect ratio) with a 3% edge padding.
  • Positioning: Choose between Bottom Right (ideal for discrete logos or copyright signatures) or Center (ideal for proofing and stock media previews).

3. Auto-Watermarking on Upload

Under Square Orb > Global:

  • Enable Auto-Watermark Native Uploads to automatically process and stamp all new images as they are uploaded to the WordPress Media Library.
  • Cloud imports through Google Photos are also processed automatically when watermarking is configured.

4. Media Library Bulk Actions

If you already have images in your Media Library or want to watermark or remove watermarks from specific batches:

  1. Navigate to Media > Library in your WordPress dashboard.
  2. Switch to the List View (the icon with rows, top left above the media items).
  3. Select the checkboxes next to the images you wish to modify.
  4. Open the Bulk Actions dropdown menu at the top of the table:
    • Select Apply Square Orb Watermark to stamp the selected media.
    • Select Remove Square Orb Watermark to regenerate intermediate sizes and remove the watermark cleanly.
  5. Click Apply. Square Orb will batch-process the images and display a confirmation notice.
